Sheer Window Treatments

Discover some great Ideas for using sheer window treatments.

So what are the options open to you when using these window treatment styles on your windows?

Why use these drapes design at all?

Well let me show you what these versatile window treatment ideas can do to transform your room.

Simple rod pocket sheers

if your looking for easy window treatments then these rod pocket drapes are what you're looking for.

Plain white sheer curtain fabric with a pocket on the top of the curtain panel. Simply push your decorative curtain rod through the pocket and gather.

Then sit the rod and sheer panel in to the curtain rod brackets you installed earlier over your window. That's all there is to hanging these sheer curtains.

Sheer scarf window treatments

If you just want to decorate your window to soften the look. Then draping a sheer scarf window treatment could be the answer. This is really simple window treatment that anyone can do.

Start by installing your decorative curtain rod over your window. Install your window curtain hardware a few inches higher than you would for hanging curtains. This will stop your sheer scarf swag hanging too deep over your window.

There are many scarf valance ideas that you can try by just using a decorative curtain rod and long sheer scarf valances.

Mixing scarf window treatments and curtain sheers

Why not have both a scarf swag and a pair of sheer curtains hanging over your window. You have two choices of window treatment hardware, either use a decorative curtain rod for hanging your curtains and swag holders for your sheer scarf valances.

The second curtain rod hardware you can use is double curtain rods. These allow you to hang your sheer curtains from the back curtain rod. Then hang your scarf window treatment from the front rod. with this option you are only installing one set of curtain rod brackets over your window.

Sheer Valances

How about just using sheer valances to decorate the top of your windows. This will take that bare cold look to your windows making it feel softer.

You could always fit window treatments blinds or window treatments roman shades behind your sheers to cover your window if you need more light control or privacy. These have a simple rod pocket on the top for hanging with a decorative curtain rod or valance curtain rod.

Sheer Grommet drapes and tab curtains

These are really simple sheer window treatments to hang. Both of these sheer window treatments are hung by threading your decorative curtain rod through the grommet or tabs. Then sitting the rod with the curtains hanging in to the curtain rod brackets.

I my opinion the grommet drapes hang better if left free hanging. The sheer tab curtains will look really good dressed back with curtain tiebacks.

Colored sheers and patterned sheer curtains

If you're looking for unique window treatment ideas then hanging one of these sheer drapes could be the answer. The plain colored sheers come in many different colors and shades. This can really give a an easy splash of color to a plain drab room. If you decide you don't like it then it's quick and cheap to change.

This patterned sheer panel is a good curtain to have hanging over a window permanently to decorate an ugly window or view. Then fit a black out shade behind to filter the light and give privacy.

Make Your Own Curtains

How about making drapes using sheer curtain fabric. This way you can get the exact size that you need to fit your windows. I would only make sheer curtains for yourself if you need extra long drapes or very wide window treatments.

What Visitors Say

"Dear Lee, Just wanted to say I found your site last week and it was an absolute godsend. Most helpful and informative - easy to follow instructions - and my very first bay window pelmet looks like the work of a true (and expensive) professional!

The pelmet and curtains both look much better in real life than on the photo of course. My wife thinks it all looks the work of a real pro rather than a first time amateur! Many many thanks for your site.

Kind regards Neal"
