It can be difficult when it comes to describing in writing how to go about installing sewing machine bobbins. So The I thought the best way for me to do it was to make this short video guide just below.
I find that watching someone do what you want to do yourself is always the best way of learning something new. I'm always checking out videos on youtube when I have a new job to do around my home.
It might seem a little complicated the first time you install sewing bobbins but trust me it will become second nature after you have done it a few times.
The important points to watch out for are making sure you insert the bobbin the right way up. That is with the thread wound in the right direction. Then that the sewing thread is fed around the bobbin case in the correct way. None of this is very difficult to do after a few goes.
There are a few different ways sewing machine bobbins fit in to a sewing machine. With my simple singer sewing machine the bobbin fits directly in to the top of the foot plate by sliding it open.
With other machines the bobbin is inserted in to a bobbin casing. Then this bobbin casing is inserted in to the machine usually to the front just under the needle plate.
Every step shown in this video has to be followed for your sewing machine to operate properly. Miss even the smallest thing and it will simply not stitch your fabric as you want.
A little tip for making life simpler is to purchase several bobbins. This way you can have several different color thread pre wound on to your bobbins. This will save you a lot of time when sewing.
If you have a lot of sewing in the same color to do. Then prepare several bobbins in the same color before you start sewing curtains.
So when it comes to sewing curtains if you want trouble free sewing. Then set your machine up correctly at the start and use a good quality thread.

"Dear Lee, Just wanted to say I found your site last week and it was an absolute godsend. Most helpful and informative - easy to follow instructions - and my very first bay window pelmet looks like the work of a true (and expensive) professional!
The pelmet and curtains both look much better in real life than on the photo of course. My wife thinks it all looks the work of a real pro rather than a first time amateur! Many many thanks for your site.
Kind regards Neal"
